Veteran Extra Zero finished an agonizingly-close second to stable mate Spillway in the Group 1 Australian Cup (2000m) last time out, and has been included in 2015 Mornington Cup nominations.

Securing five racing wins and a further 25 minor places over his long and busy 73 start career so far, Extra Zero will line up for his fourteenth race this campaign in the 2015 Mornington Cup, in a preparation which has seen only one finish outside the top three.

Having placed second in the Listed Mornington Cup Prelude (2000m) prior to his Australian Cup second, co-trainer David Hayes has been thrilled with the work produced by the Danzero gelding over the last fortnight and is confident of another polished performance in the Mornington Cup.

Up-and-coming trainer Archie Alexander is set to launch a two-pronged attack on the 2015 Mornington Cup after including both stable star Renew and Martinvast in nominations.

Unable to make much of an impact when finished towards the tail of the field in both the Group 2 Herbert Power Stakes (2400m) and Group 1 Caulfield Cup (2400m) upon debuting to Australian racing in spring, Renew quickly found competitive form in finishing second in a 2800m minor and winning the Listed Sandown Cup (3200m) on November 15th.

Having placed sixth in the Listed Torney Night Cup (2500m) and third in the Group 2 Adelaide Cup (3200m) so-far this season, a step-back to 2400m and class for the Mornington Cup is sure to benefit the chances of Renew this weekend.

Posting several commendable results for Alexander over spring, Martinvast carries competitive form into the 2015 Mornington Cup after running fourth in the Prelude and second in the Listed Roy Higgins Quality (2600m) on March 7th.

Talented gelding Entirely Platinum has already secured several impressive results this time in, and has been included in 2015 Mornington Cup nominations.

Finishing outside the top three only a handful of times through his 19 start career to date, the Pentire gelding placed second to Dissident in the Group 1 CF Orr Stakes (1400m) first-up this time; progressing to fourth in the Group 1 Futurity Stakes (1400m) and sixth in the Australian Cup most recently.

The 2015 Mornington Cup final field and barrier draw is due to be completed and released by midday, Wednesday.
