Tom Melbourne has posted a number of impressive results this time and remains clear $2.50 favourite in 2016 Mornington Cup betting markets with Ladbrokes.com.au ahead of Observational and Pemberley; currently sharing the second line at $7 quotes.

Will Tom Melbourne justify favouritism and win the 2016 Mornington Cup or will one of his talented rivals claim an upset.

Tom Melbourne ($2.50)

Tom Melbourne will leave from the ideal barrier 5 in the Mornington Cup with Ben Melham aboard and will be tough to beat with only 55.5kgs in tow. Delivering a number of notable performers a comfortable defeat in the Cable Beach Resort & Spa BM84 (2100m) on December 23rd, Tom Melbourne resumed on March fifth for success in the Antler Luggage Trophy BM90 (1800m) before repeating the dose in the Listed Albury Cup (2000m) on March 18th. Tom Melbourne is undoubtedly the class horse of the Mornington Cup field and will win, should he turn up in prime condition.

Big Memory ($8)

A proven performer over course and distance, Big Memory arguably offers punters the best value for money at current Mornington Cup odds and is well and truly worth consideration for a bet. Claiming four wins and eleven minors through 29 career starts so far, the Duke Of Marmalade undoubtedly found career-best form to date through the 2014 edition of the Spring Carnival; highlighted by success in Group 2 Herbert Power Stakes (2400m) and minors in both the Group 3 Lexus Stakes (2500m) and Group 3 Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2600m). Having run second in the Listed Golden Mile (1600m) last start, Big Memory will relish a step up to 2400m on Saturday.

Puccini ($9.50)

The Darren Weir-trained Puccini has posted a number of strong results between misfiring this time and is another runner that is worth consideration for a bet at current Mornington Cup odds. A Group 1 winner over the distance having taken out the 2014 edition of the New Zealand Derby, Puccini ran a close second in the Group 3 Eclipse Stakes (1800m) in his first start for Weir on November 14th but failed to fire in the Group 2 Villiers Stakes (1600m) and returned to the paddock. Running a pleasing third in the Group 3 TAB Rewards Stakes (1400m) first-up this time, the Encosta De Lago entire placed tenth in the Group 2 Ajax Stakes (1500m) but ran on well for fourth in the Group 3 Easter Cup (2000m) last time out.
